Oceans for Hope
A GATHERING FOR LOVERS OF THE SEA, ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATORS, ACTIVISTS, CAMPAIGNERS AND LEADERS
This gathering is based on 'The Work that Reconnects' a process pioneered by ‘Active Hope’ environmentalist Joanna Macy. It empowers us to come together to work more effectively for the Planet, leading us through four stages: acknowledging our gratitude, honouring our pain for the world, seeing our connections to each other and the planet through new eyes and going forth with new thinking to make a positive difference.
This is an invitation for activists, campaigners and learning practitioners to come together to explore how ‘Active Hope’ can enrich our own live working through our intimate relationship with the Ocean. It will help to grow a community of learning for hope as we individually and together continue our work to raise awareness of the Ocean and the Planet in fast changing times.

The gathering, facilitated by experienced Active Hope trainers and educators, is an invitation to form a temporary community, in which we eat together, support each other, share practical responsibilities and create our own entertainment around the campfire. The camp will be close to the Ocean and we will seek to connect with the other communities along the coast – the creatures living on the shore and in the sea around our camp.
